Laundry nearly killed us. But sneaking washing soda from the laundry room was such a thrill!

Smooth this time.

Light shining through the LRT's window.
Similar to Singapore's MRT, but a simpler version.

Seok: "eh why no swans one?"
Cindy: "i think too hot lar."
Yes Indeed!! The blazing sun was scorching our backs as we figured our way to Titiwangsa Lake.

The absence of swans in Titiwangsa lake dulled the whole scenery. Nonetheless, it's worth a visit if hot sun doesnt turn you off.
Dropped by Chow kit and Central Market which were a few stops away from Titiwangsa station.

Chow Kit market is KL's largest indoor market. Inside, narrow walkways lead through a maze of stalls laden with seafood of any variety and size, vegetables of numerous shapes and colour, meat, spices and loads and loads of fruit. Food stalls are in abundance as are those selling clothes, shoes cassettes and fabrics. All at reasonable prices.
Chow Kit Market is open daily from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Getting around suburban side of KL can be quite risky, especially Chow Kit. It's fraught with danger. Don't ever walk into the back alleys alone cause you might be sexually assaulted by god knows who. We were so vigilant to the extent that we even suspected two male natives (prowling behind us) were trying to rob us. Maybe we were just being paranoid.

Poor Cindy misplaced her adidas water bottle somewhere along our way to central market. Probably it now belongs to some nonentity who had purchased it from a local dealer who could have had found it, thus putting it up for grabs for 10 RM at his little kiosks along chow kit market. HA! Okay la. Don't cry.

Dig oriental antiques? Typical fashionable beaded accessories? Probably hoping to find some souvenirs to bring home to? Yes? Alright! Then central market is the perfect place for you! Feel free to haggle.

Cindy and KL's chinatown in background.
It was already 8 something when we sauntered to nearby Chinatown for more budget shopping. Bought 2 similar sling bags and set off to eat chinese - Horfun.

Tony & Guy latest rival- Thomas & Guys.

Eeeks! Whose dirty feet are those? yes! Suki oh Suki With the white painted toesnails.

The "evil" masks we bought in Central Market.

The luxury of staying in Bukit Bintang is that everything is of easy reach, especially food. This is only 1/15 of the entire stretch of road-side food stalls. wahhhhhhhhahahahahhaaa. Are you in for a feasttttt?

Thanks to Cindy, who insisted on visiting the cyber centre again, Seok had no choice but to accompany her there (for safety reasons obviously) till 1 30 am! Next, Cindy announced that she wants to try KL's TOPCHOICE ice cream.

It was already 2 am. Not wanting to switch on the lights to cause any disturbance to fellow dorm mates who were sleeping soundly, we sneaked and tip-toed our way into the room. Earlier that night before we left for the cyber centre, we remembered that one of our german dorm mates had already gone back to Germany while the other would still be sharing the dorm room with us till her boyfriend joined her in KL. Our dorm has two bunks and which means it could fit four people in that room. So someone's gotta occupy that vacant bed innit? Well, surprise surprise. Guess what? We then found out that we had another new dorm mate! How exciting? Not really. According to the lodge staffs, he is an arabic middle aged local man who had decided to book into Pondok Lodge out of convenience due to the fact that he has a fruit stall near the lodge. Plausible? Read on.
And so we saw him in the room. Appearing to be asleep, occupying the bed below the german girl's.
In total darkness, we shuffled back to our respective beds getting ready to turn in.
Seok: Psst! Cindy, I don't feel comfortable with this man around.
Cindy: Why? It's okay la. Just sleep.
Seok: Hey, i will not be able to sleep peacefully. What if he locks the room and does something nasty to us in the middle of the night? WHAT IF? Somemore he is a local? Don't you think it's a little odd for a local to book into a backpacker's lodge? Seriously, i don't feel too safe about this.
Cindy: PLEASE! You think too much.
We supposed that he was awaken by our whispers and fidgets, he rosed and switched on the light.
Arabic man: " Light?"
It certainly wasn't a joke when you realised that this man was clad in his briefs on only! We know it's no biggie to sleep with your briefs, but he should have some decency to at least give his three female dorm mates some respect?
Seok: " Ah... ha.. its okay huh.. don't wanna disturb the german girl."
He then switched off the lights.
Three of us started to converse in the dark. Okay, maybe two. Cindy was too disgusted to even speak.
Arabic man: " Looking for something? "
Cindy: "Eh.. eh.. ha.. ."
Seok: " Do you know where's the air-con controller? Are you cold?" (wanting to test his reactions)
Indeed, he did move closer and closer towards us. Straightaway, we knew that something's not right.
Immediately, Seok ran towards the dorm's door open it wide (wide enough for Cindy to exit through). A flurry of actions took place after that.
At the door way.
Arabic man: " Where are you from?"
Seok: " Ehhhhhh.. Singaporeeee" moving a step back. (CINDYYYY HELLPPPPP)
*shooked and kissed seok's hand* " Am from Arab."
That was awfully disgusting. SOMEBODY CHOP MY RIGHT HAND OFF! dammit.

Thanks to that sicko, we had to change rooms. Well of course we couldn't just leave our poor sleepyhead dorm mate, who has not had the slightest idea of what had happened, alone with that sicko. So we brought her along with us.

After much complaints and conpensation, the dorm staff allowed us to switch to Room 22. The only available room left. 3 beds, with one already occupied by a woman. Therefore both of us had to squeeze into one bed while that german girl on the other.
What a night. Ah sod it!
Day Three (Sat ♦ 10/9/05)

Right after our breakfast, we set off to see the most talkabout attraction in town - The Petrona Towers.

However we didn't get the tickets to the top, resorted to posing under the hot sun to satisfy the narcissistic us.

The Petrona Towers.

Some japanese restuarant.

Times Square's indoor roller coaster was next.

Saw our very own Singapore's idol finalist- Leandra with her boyfriend. Who cares anyway? Ha!

30RM entrance fee, and you'll get to 'enjoy' unlimited rides.

Took roller coaster for 4 times, with our last 2 rounds having the front seats.
Our initial plan, which was to crash a mod party, was cancelled. Brought our body to the extreme, and we're starving badly after the rides.
Plastic bag somebody!

Anyway after a quick bite in Times Square and grabbing cheap popcorns, we hurried down to The Vintage Shop at BB plaza for some retail therapy.

KL was known for being a no-joke place for tourist, and indeed it was really no joke. Coming from Singapore, where everything is fine and dandy, it's quite a surprised to witness a shop robbery in KL. Not exactly those bang bang and shoot sorta shop robbery that you have always seen on tv, it's just 2 uncles stealing Baleno clothings. Anti-Climax? Sorry! haha
And then, it was FRANGIPANI!
Chilling in Frangipani Bar
It was still early when we took these pics hence the emptiness.
We couldn't resist the temptation to pub. Who could? Imagine the most happening gay bar in the city, is just a street across your lodge. Heaven!

Our rating for Frangipani Bar -

/

Selling Points - friendly staffs, nice balcony for drunkards to chill, near to pondok lodge, nice crowds, no cover charge.
The flip side - weekends are not as happening as friday night, and drinks a tad expensive, can be quite boring if you're not into gays.
Seok settled for martini and her usual submarine (but this time with a baileys shot dumped right into tiger beer, omg, wrong combination! the texture was just like vomit! Cindy thought it tasted good like oats meal. goodness), while Cindy sipped her cocktail away like a baby. Besides these, we got treated to a glass of Long Island from getting the bartender's age.
Oh yes, Peter you're 32.
"damn!" *clenched fists*
Before we headed back to our lodge, we went supper with our new friends who turned the table into a political debate. For sensitive reasons, we shall not get into the real conversations.
'round 4am "Night Seok," was heard.
Day Four (Sunday ♦ 11/09/05)We set our handphones' alarm at 9 am and as usual Seok had to wake Cindy up.

The familiar flight of stairway leading to Rooftop garden.
We would definitely revisit Pondok Lodge anytime again. We are missing those fellow backpackers we had met there. The two german dorm mates, Lercy, new zealander guy who saw us leaving our marks on the rooftop's table, singaporean guy who borrowed touch light from us and of course not forgeting the two hot japanese guys! Heh. It's a pity we didn't have the opportunity to take pictures with all of them. Argh.
Throughout this entire trip, both of us had learnt alot more about each other. For example, Cindy's the big muzzy sotong while Seok's the clumsy lobster gorilla. Well at least there is a balance, took good care of each other and that's how we suvived through this trip.
Cheers to many more adventures to come!

Back to Singapore, Back to reality.
Returned to the place where we first stepped foot on, and from there we waved KL our last goodbye.
Signing off,
The Evil Kids
